以下是 Taiwan News 針對馬英九最後二年任期製作520特刊「機會與挑戰-馬總統如何突破困局?」邀請作者撰寫300字短文，本人所寫內容：
歷經318佔領立法院運動（其間包括323的佔領行政院、330的50萬人上凱道）、林義雄先生為核四公投修法而禁食禁言、4月27、28日的反核運動，以及隨著人民不滿情緒與抗爭強度快速升高，馬政府用來自我隔絕人民的拒馬，不僅越來越多層，殺傷力也越來越大，而所使用驅離抗議民眾的手段更是越來越殘暴。政府與人民關係的緊張，恐怕已是美麗島事件以來之最。
此時已經很難再對馬總統有太多期許。只能反向衷心企盼未來二年的馬總統，在未經人民公投同意前，不可以貿然與中國簽訂任何政治協議；好歹兌現一次競選承認，即台灣未來的前途，仍交由台灣2300萬人決定，並確保未來二年內，台灣2300萬人仍可以擁有自由決定自己前途的空間。

Along
with the series of events occurred recently-the March 18 Sunflower Student Movement with students occupying
the parliament (including occupying of the Executive Yuan on March 23 and the
March 30 parade held on Ketagalan Boulevard attended by nearly 500,000 people),
Mr. Lin I-hsiung’ s hunger and speechless strike against the Fourth Nuclear
Power Plant and for amendment of the Referendum Act, Anti-Nuclear
Protest March on April 26 and 27, and the rapidly growing anger and strength of
movement, the barricades
which President Ma used to isolate himself from the public also became thicker
and more and more devastating, and the measures used to evacuate protesters also
turned more brutal. The tense between the government and the people has reached
its highest level since the Formosa
Incident.
We can expect no more from President
Ma at this moment. We may only hope that in the next two years, President Ma would
not reach any political agreement with Mainland China before the referendum, at least kept his promise made
during campaign- that Taiwan’s future shall be decided by
23,000,000 citizens of Taiwan and in the next two years the 23,000,000 citizens
of Taiwan still hold the chance to decide its own future path.
